Robert W Service, a famous Scottish-Canadian poet, and his well known 1907 poem “The Cremation of Sam McGee” served as the inspiration for this autobiographical poem, and familiarity with that work will enhance the reader’s experience with this one. My time with Kaiser Permanente has been warmer and less macabre than Sam McGee’s time in the Yukon, and I am proud to be completely Kaiserized.
