Snail 2

Poetry, Volume 2; Issue 1

When we were kids,

Toden and I will go at night

with kerosene lanterns

into the plantain yard

ferret leaves, fences,

blocks, crevices

covered in weeds;

wash off their sticky slippery slime

with lime stone

then fry with palm oil

after powdering pepper, eat still hot

with soaked gari.

Worldly affair would not let him think about it

now, their taste and scent.
