Sex-Based Differences in Causes of Hospitalization for Coronary Heart Disease

Men are more likely to be hospitalized for an acute myocardial infarction, while women are more likely to be hospitalized for stable or unstable angina, as documented in this prospective Kaiser Permanente study. The article discusses possible reasons and implications of this major sex difference with respect to CHD presentation.

Uterine Artery Embolization for Treatment of Uterine Fibroids

This article describes a new method of treating this common problem, which has the important virtue of avoiding major abdominal surgery. Results in a series of Kaiser Permanente patients are presented. Indications and the current status of the procedure are discussed.
