This is fiber art made up of three layers: Cotton fabrics, which have been hand dyed and painted and sewn in strips; the river is quilted in metallic thread;
it is embellished and machine quilted. The quilt depicts an area (and river) on Oahu, Nuuanu.
The title Na Pali o’Nuuanu comes from: “Na” denotes plural, “Pali” means cliffs,
and “o’” stands for "of "(Hawaiian language) and "Nuuanu" is the actual area.
