Shenshen Dou has been a molecular biologist in the Medical research field and co-authored over 30 articles in scientific journals. Upon relocating to Portland, Oregon, she became a full-time painter, expressing her love of science through art. She feels that medical science is a fascinating world full of passion and beauty that it is rarely seen by outsiders. Her desire is to use her background and brush to reveal the internal beauty of this special world. In the past five years, she has designed posters and abstract covers for scientific meetings. Her work has also been shown in local galleries (Portland Art Center, Rouge Blanc Gallery), Universities (Pacific University Kathrin Cawein Gallery, Royal College of Art, UK), hospital (Providence Milwaukie Hospital Diversity Gallery, Portland) and the pharmaceutical company (Eli Lilly and company, IN).
