The visual warmth of the adobe contrasted so sharply with the cool, bright blue of the church windows that I could not resist capturing the image. I am drawn to sidelong views, obstructions, angles … basically anything but a direct, dimensionless shot. Looking down this incredible wall invoked a feeling of belonging or rightness that I can’t quite explain and will not soon forget. For me, taking pictures is an important part of finding beauty in new places—beauty in all its countless forms.
This photograph was taken at Taos Pueblo near Taos, New Mexico, in August 2012. A Canon Powershot at ISO 800 and some camera-imbedded contrasting effects were used.
