In 2012, I had the pleasure of attending the Taos Writing Retreat for Health Professionals. I met there a collection of thoughtful, creative, and inspiring physicians, clinicians, and other health professionals who inspired my work. Because a camera travels with me everywhere, I was able to explore my creativity in writing and with a camera, capturing images in words and pictures.

I have had a camera in my hand for as long as I can remember and there’s always one nearby, whether it be my “point-and-shoot” or big SLR. I find inspiration in the work of classic artists in the photographic arts (such as Edward Weston, Imogen Cunningham, Walker Evans, Diane Arbus, Man Ray, Eugène Atget, Annie Liebovitz, Dorothea Lang, and Henri Cartier-Bresson) and in those who send their works to us for consideration; their images speak to me.
