Water Color Pond

9x12
watercolor on paper

We were in the Tuolumne Meadows of Yosemite for a “hiking” vacation. I had just torn a knee cartilage, so I had a “sitting” vacation with watercolors instead. I was experimenting with how to depict shade and sunlight while playing with the intense colors in the scene. I tried to portray the visual impact of the forest, without painting hundreds of trees.
